Some common FAQs
-
Is Paint.NET free?
Yes, Paint.NET is indeed free in the sense that we do not charge money for it.
Will Paint.NET ever replace Paint in Windows?
There are no plans to include Paint.NET with Windows. But you can always download it for free from our website. Honestly, it’s better that Paint.NET is not integrated in to Windows, because that let’s keep our own design and agenda for everything.
Personally, I use Paint only for cropping screen shots and it works quite well for me. But for folks who think Paint hasn’t evolved at all since Win 95 days – then Paint .NET is for you.
Actually, not many people know that Paint.exe is PBrush.exe(remember Windows 95/98??) :)
UPDATE:
Bored with the plain old notepad? try the all new notepad2. You can download Notepad2 from here
The original Notepad shipped with Windows is probably the handiest program of all times, small, fast, without frills! Notepad2 tries to follow this principle, it’s a small, fast and free text editor with syntax highlighting for HTML and other common languages
Also, try the all new Microsoft Calculator Plus - by Microsoft
Calculator Plus offers conversions between different measurement units for area, temperature, volume and more. It also includes all the mathematical functions offered in Microsoft Calculator
